Summer Special EventMaria Vicente has developed a program for children that includes a Thomas the Tank Engine theme. She will present a sheduled reading program - about an hour - that will be offered on Sundays during the summer. Here is the schedule: May 23, June 6, July 4, July 18, Aug 1, Aug 8, Aug 15, Sept 5 Maria is an experienced librarian and has a special interest in children's learning. She will also incorporate material about the museum into her presentation and offer take-aways, crafts and activities to the visitors. In addition we will sell Thomas items in the gift shop. This will probably take place in the "Kid's Car" next to the Work train cars. Thanks Maria. RestorationThe great news is that 7379 - the Canadian Northern Combine - is nearly ready to be displayed again. A rubber roof has been installed, doors and windows have been repaired and the steps have been straightened. The Engineeering Car is complete and ready to go outside for display. It also represents many weeks of effort which have been part of the overall challenge faced by the Dunvegan Shop crew. Roofs are planned for Rycroft and other cars in the display string. Next is to replace the floor in the wash car, and as funds become available to repair the floors in some display cars. Congratulations to the Dunvegan Shop crew for their detrmination, dedication and skill. |
